Big City Construction Company offers a variety of tile flooring for your next remodel. Tile flooring is created from a variety of materials and each type of tile flooring has its own characteristics. Learn more about the types of tile flooring installations that we do below.

Ceramic Tile

Ceramic Tile is made from clay materials. It is formed through a variety of methods including a dry press, extruded and slush molds.

Porcelain Tile

Porcelain tile is made from clay and minerals. It consists of red, white and brown clay and minerals. It can be either glazed or unglazed. Glazed tile has a glossy finish and an increased stain resistance, scratch resistance, and traction.

Natural Stone Tile

Natural stone tile is made from natural materials. Common types of natural stone include granite, marble, limestone/travertine, and slate. Within these types of stones, there are thousands of varieties with unique characteristics depending on where the stone was quarried and more.

Granite often has a speckled pattern from minerals that are found in the rock. It is very dense and hard. Once it is polished, it is very scratch resistant - making it an excellent choice for kitchen countertops.

Marble is more porous than granite and is not recommended for the kitchen because it is harder to maintain its finish.

Travertine is a type of limestone that is soft and porous stone. Special care and surface sealing helps maintain travertine.
